In Reply To Why does everyone prefer B&B over all other exhaust systems? (n/m) posted by flipxican21 on November 24, 2002 at 03:57 AM

Message I have compared B&B and Brullen side-by-side, off the car for build quality, fitment and flow characteristics. The reason for comparing these two is because they are the most simuliar. The B&B has nicer welds and bolts-up better. Sometimes Brullen requires some tweaking to get it to fit. Luckily, my Brullen didn't.
The bends in Brullen are not as sharp as B&B (better flow). B&B updated their cat-back not too long ago, resulting in even more resonance. I have a close friend with a complete B&B system--down, mid and cat-back, and has had both the older and newer version. (you can get resonators on B&B which will lower the resonance) The X-Pipe in the Brullen has a larger opening between the two sides (again, better flow).
Appearance--B&B's dual exhaust looks great. Brullen has several dual tip and muffler options. After seeing Brullen's smaller muffler model with dual tips, I think it looks JUST AS GOOD as B&B. I have the larger muffler which is not as nice looking, but still good looking.
Sound--B&B has resonance between 2K-3K. I have Greg Dupree down pipes with the Brullen with no resonance. The Brullen is definitely louder than Stillen and a few others (yes, my Brullen has set off a car alarms before, but it's rare), and I can still listen to my stereo. The Brullen has a deep rumble like B&B, just not as loud. Listening to Brullen and B&B side-by-side at WOT, I think the Brullen sounds better (my opinion). There are many in our club that have heard the two systems also think the Brullen sounds better. All they say about the B&B is "it's LOUD!"
Comment about the dual tips--I believe the straight through muffler with a SINGLE tip will give better flow. There is straight line of flow with the single tip.
I have not seen the LaBree exhaust, but I believe that a setup with Greg Dupree's down and mid pipes, and with the Labree or Brullen cat-back will give better flow than a full B&B system (and for less money).
Conclusion--everyone has their own likes, get what you like best. I believe for a several hundred $$$ less and maybe some tweaking to install, the Brullen with Greg Dupree's down and mid pipes will give better flow with a nicer sound. I think B&B sounds much better than most, I just prefer Brullen with Greg Dupree's down and mid pipes.
I'm happy with mine. By all means, get what you like best. Peace
